Kinja'd!!!

Ever since I tasted Jimmy John's for the first time back in 2008, I was hooked. When it was time to return to Puerto Rico I was devastated they didn't have a JJ's anywhere, so I soaked my sorrows eating at Quiznos for 6 years. Now I'm back with a vengeance, storming every JJ's I see around. I've been eating two JJ's sandwiches each weekend by ascending order. I started from the 8" Subs, not the Plain Slims.

Kinja'd!!!

Remember the Knight's Round Table? This post will suggest what sandwiches deserve to be in that special place, worthy of draining your life savings. Since there are only seven 8" Subs, 4 sandwiches will make the cut.

Kinja'd!!!

#1 Pepe: Smoked ham, provolone cheese with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Meh. So bland that it left me disoriented, walking aimlessly and asking for Pepe. This one doesn't even make it to the door of the room where the Round Table is.

Kinja'd!!!

#2 Big John: Roast beef with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Aside from the porn name (which made the cashier repeat it loudly with a trollish smirk on his face) it was really good... Roast beef taste blends perfect with the mayo and tomatoes... Just don't say 'I would like a Big John' too loud. Say #2 instead. Definitely Round Table approved.

Kinja'd!!!

#3 Totally Tuna: Tuna, with celery, onions, tasty sauce (whatever that is), cucumber, lettuce and tomato. Is not fair to compare this sandwich with the rest of the menu. If that day you want to swim with the fishes, go with this one. It's totally worth it. Round Table Approved by default (no competitors).

Kinja'd!!!

#4 Turkey Tom: Turkey breast slices with lettuce, tomato and mayo. I even added cucumber and cheese: This sandwich is sentenced to death by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for being so boring in taste.

Kinja'd!!!

#5 Vito: Genoa salami, provolone, capicola, onion, lettuce, tomato and Italian vinaigrette. The combination of this Italian deliciousness is near perfect but the aftertaste is like the ending of Sopranos: Mind bending, knuckle crunching suspense, but then... nothing... Approval to the Knightwiches Round Table pending.

Kinja'd!!!

#6 Vegeterian: Layers of provolone cheese, avocado spread, sliced cucumber, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Really good for being a veggie sub. Not enough to convert me into a vegan, but sufficient to keep a vegan faithful to his diet. Same status as Vito.

Kinja'd!!!

-J.J.B.L.T.: Baconbaconbacon, tomato, lettuce and mayo. That is all. This one is approved… BECAUSE BACON.

Big John, Totally Tuna and J.J.B.L.T. are in, but Vito and the Vegeterian had to battle it out. After a tense bout, Vito was victorious, since the Veggie couldn't handle all that Italian vinaigrette.

So, there you have it. These are the sandwiches worthy of ordering at Jimmy John's.

FYI don't think I have forgotten the Giant Club Sandwiches, those are reserved for another post in the near future.

Which sandwiches do you think should have made it to the Round Table? Have at it, hungry Opponauts.

I should try more of their subs. I default to a Club Lulu with cheese, or sometimes the Italian Night club. Now I'm going to JJ's for lunch today. Suggest a Giant for me to try!

Capriotti's kicks the shit out of Jimmy John's. Because thanksgiving sub made from turkey roasted in house.

All of the normal subs are relatively bland. I typically go for a Turkey Tom if I'm on that side of the menu, but get the wheat bread. It's delicious.

The giant clubs on the other hand....Beach Club is my perennial favorite, followed closely by the Club Lulu. The Italian Night Club is top notch as well. Add hot peppers to everything

I worked at a jjs for years. like the tuna? We take it outta the can, squeeze all the liquid from it, then put a buncha soy sauce on it, then resqueeze all the soy sauce out. then just mayo and the veggies and you got some daaaaank tuna.

I have always been partial to the 2 meat sandwiches (#7-15 I believe). My pick of the litter is the #12 Beach Club. Turkey, 4 slices of provolone, avocado spread(which is good on literally aaaany sangwich), and extra mayo for me please. Bonus points if you add bacon. But the tuna is a close second for me. Very tasty.

I added some hot peppers to the Italian Night Club and it was a heavenly experience. I will add peppers to the other bland sandwiches and give them another try.

I have only tried 7-9 from the Giant Club Sandwiches. I'll keep an eye on #12. But I'll add extra ingredients after tasting them in their original form.

Hahaha, I recently started the same thing, getting the sandwiches in ascending order. #3 is the worst sandwich on the menu... by far. So far (and I have had a few out of order) the #9 is my favorite.

I haven't tried them all yet, but #9 (specially with spicy peppers) is the best one indeed!

You haven't tried the Gargantuan?!

Bump it to the top of the list my friend. I cut out the mayo and onions, but I think the nice italian vinaigrette would be weird to mix with mayo anyhow.

If you're in the Bay Area, try Ikes. It's either Ike's Place or Ike's Lair and get the Ménage à Trois or Ugly Owl. Also try Earl of Sandwich if you visit Disney Land or Las Vegas. SHIT IS SO CASH.

Spicy peppers are a given.

JJ's bread strikes me as a little bland, so yeah. Spicy pepper all the things!!!

I tired JJ for the first time a few weeks ago, and it was OK. Maybe it was overhyped to me by friends and family, but I thought it would be a lot better than it was after the way everyone was talking about it.

Had the Italian with spicy peppers.

Well, I was used to Quiznos and Subway, so JJ's tasted like heaven.

Also former employee here, know it well in both operation and their actual food if I may be of any assistance.

As a former employee, let me blow your mind:

#10: easy mayo (keeping it from getting soggy), no tomato (clashes with upcoming add-ons and again too soggy), extra oregano (seriously makes ALL the difference; you can also ask for it to be put on the mayo'd bread before anything else and is the preferred method but not their standard procedure), avocado, and if you're adventurous (but not needed) bacon. Delicious as is cold or grilled in a panini press.

I could see that. Quiznos I like alright because they toast the bread and it gives it some texture. Subway sandwiches always seemed soggy to me. I didn't mean to come across as saying JJ's was bad, I was just saying that after the way everyone told me about it I thought it would be a sandwich revolution.

Lately I have been enjoying a nice BLT, can't go wring with a bacon sandwich!
